The organisation is dedicated to building a culture of peace and justice for all. We are inspired to achieve our full potential as we partner across all boundaries to work for women and children’s well-being, education and self-actualization. IALRW has a president, 3 regional vice-presidents, a secretary and a treasurer. There is an international council (board) including also advisors.

IALRW provides a link as an interfaith and umbrella organization between liberal religious women of goodwill throughout the world, including isolated or discriminated groups and individuals. It promotes friendship, mutual education and co-operation among liberal religious women – individuals and member groups – in all countries. It opens and extends communications with women who are striving for a liberal religious life.

It provides service in the areas of health, training and education especially to women and girls; and promotes economic and social justice and equality for all women, and religious freedom. It works as an international umbrella organization, as member groups, and as individuals for peace in the world. It holds an international conference or congress every 3 to 4 years, often in connection with IARF (International Association for Religious Freedom). The last conference took place in Cluj-Napoca/Kolozsvár (RO) in 2023, the next congress is planned in Kuching (MY) in 2025.
