The ABC-Climont association was set up in 2021 to transform the former Climont holiday camp into a place of welcome, life, training and renewal, while developing synergies with the recently renovated Climont Reformed Church below. By organising seminars, weekends, conferences, festivals, artists’ residencies and hosting people in vulnerable situations or just passing through, ABC-Climont aims to be a laboratory for encounters.
ABC is an abbreviation of the Latin words ‘Ars Bene Credendi’ – the art of believing in a way which does good. This expression is a nod to the art of living well – ‘Ars Bene Vivendi’.
This ‘believing’ is by no means restricted to the realm of religion. It is an anthropological condition, constitutive of our humanity. A belief that is necessary for understanding and building the world. Without belief, nothing is created.
In the footsteps of humanism (Christian and Rhenish-Erasmus), we are convinced that ‘believing’ is an art, a skill that can be explored, invented, built, learned and practised.
This ‘belief’ is forged all the better as it is the fruit of a shared experience, thoughtful and open to criticism, enriched by contributions from multiple horizons and anchored in diverse convictions.
The annual programme is based on a different theme each year, crossing four areas:
Nature – Culture – Reflexion – Interconvictionnal Spirituality. 2025 Be aware!
2024 Caring, 2023 Itineraries, 2022 Entering into resonance
ABC-Climont is a network project across borders. We’re looking to connect with other initiatives close to ours. ABC-Climont is member of the network Chemins de paix / Friedenswege around the Rhine ( https://friedenswege.com/ ). The association organises conferences in Strasbourg, Sélestat, Basel or Freiburg, and then offers more in-depth sessions in the Climont.
