The House of One is the product of a grassroot initiative of three religious’ communities. The initial idea came from a protestant parish which then joined forces with a with a Jewish community – with a rabbinical seminary – and a Muslim initiative for dialogue.
In a common charter they set the theological basis and the guidelines of the concept. It is the key document, adopted on October 11th. A central section of the Charter addresses the question of how the great diversity within religions can peacefully find place in the House of One.
The House of One is a contemporary expression of religious life and as such will be expressed in an equally modern architectural language. Beyond that the process of building together alone will become a crystallisation point for getting to know each other, for understanding and creating peace.
Already today the foundation that stands behind the project offers interreligious educational work for schools, communities, organisations or public administration, reaches out to young people through an interreligious podcast and forges national as well as international partnerships. This growing House of One community will take responsibility for the common future in our ‘one world house’ from within the religions.
