The Interfaith Committee (IFC) is the only information, training and monitoring body of its kind in a regional authority in France, and helps to promote initiatives and actions in favor of interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

Eight faiths are represented by one or two members, each appointed by their highest authorities: the Diocese of Strasbourg, the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine, the Israelite Consistory of Bas-Rhin, the Regional Council of Muslim Worship, the Romanian Orthodox Church of Strasbourg, the Buddhist Community of Alsace, the Hindu Bhakti Mandir Association and local representatives of the Baha’i faith.

Members of the IFC are regularly called upon to take part in events organized by the community on social issues as diverse as “the end of life”, “women in Islam” and “the place of religion in our society”.

Religious institutions have also been taking part in interfaith rallies for high school students in the Grand Est region for over ten years, opening the doors of some of their places of worship service.

The President of the Grand Est Region, Franck Leroy, welcomes IRC members every year for a convivial and constructive exchange.
