The rally offers students the chance to visit three or four places of worship service in the same day, and to talk with the Ministers of Religion who welcome them. This enables them to acquire keys to understanding, on which to build their reflections. This initiative complements the teaching provided by teachers as part of the national education curriculum.
In order to support this journey, the Grand Est region has designed a roadmap, in collaboration with specialists in the field of education and religion. It begins with a presentation of the principle of in France, which lies at the heart of relations between the State and the religious denominations present on its territory.
More than 1,200 students take part in this rally every year in Alsace.
Since December 2024, a high school citizen rally has been running in Epinal. This multi-day educational program makes secularism its central theme. It enables students to gain a better understanding of secularism, through interactive games, as well as visits to places representing the French Republic, places of worship service and cultural sites. The aim is to show how central the principle of secularism, and how it contributes to living together through common rules, while preserving everyone’s freedom.
