Weltkloster entrusts in the peace forming power of dialogue between authentically trained monastic and spiritual representatives of religious and contemplative traditions on the basis of inner experience and mutual understanding at eye level. Monastic and authentically transmitted spiritual and human values such as compassion and hospitality are to serve as a guideline and a bridge between people and organisations of various belief systems worldwide.

Weltkloster is an association that offers a platform for in-depth exchange in the area of monastic/spiritual practice and theological and philosophical discourse, as well as forums joint research into the doctrinal content of religious systems that point to cross-traditional solutions in order to counteract anti-democratic and power-abusing structures and to strengthen and maintain the religious systems themselves as peace making institutions in the sense of re-ligio.

Our dialogue partners remain networked and feel connected through their contemplative background and their endeavour to make the healing influences of spiritual training on world events around us visible. They act as responsible role models within their communities and thus contribute to understanding between religions in different places. Likewise, an intra-religious debate is encouraged to promote the strength of religious spiritual formation and the development of those elements and approaches within spiritual and theological issues that are likely to support engagement in social coexistence to overcome current and collective crisis situations in the area of human rights and climate disasters worldwide. Different spiritual and consciousness-raising concepts that help people to remain peaceful and dynamically resilient are reflected upon and experienced in theory and practice in encounters with practitioners of different religions through familiarisation and appreciation.

Following the declaration Nostra Aetate of the Second Vatican Council 1965 and the encounters of leading clergy and contemplative religious in East and West, which have since been accompanied by many interreligious exchange programmes, we endeavour to work out the relevance of such encounters as a significant, peace-building element.
